Kodak Zi6 pocket digital video camera
Kodak has just rolled out a new pocket digital video camera for the masses in the form of the Zi6, enabling one to shoot video wherever they are without feeling the strain of a really heavy camcorder. According to John Blake, General Manager Digital Capture and Devices, Vice President, Eastman Kodak Company, “Today’s connected consumers increasingly turn to video to express themselves and connect with others. The KODAK Zi6 Pocket Video Camera satisfies their thirst for an HD video camera that is simple to use and can go anywhere life takes them. With the launch of the Zi6 Pocket Video Camera, consumers now have a high-quality solution from the trusted brand in digital imaging.” More to come on the Zi6 after the jump.
The Zi6 is capable of shooting YouTube-ready videos, enabling you to upload them directly to the online video sharing service without having to go through lengthy conversion periods in the first place. Some of the other interesting features include :-
- Capture video in HD quality on this fun and super simple pocket video camera (720p at 60 fps with 16:9 aspect ratio)
- Upload your videos to YouTube quickly and easily using the built-in USB and software
- Record hours of video with the expandable SD/SDHC card slot that can hold up to 32 GB
- Experience your videos on HDTV in stunning HD quality with included cables
- Edit videos, add pictures and music, and share your creation anywhere with the included video software CD
- Go green with included pre-charged AA Ni-MH rechargeable batteries and battery charger
You will be able to pick up the Kodak Zi6 Pocket Video Camera later this September, and it will be accompanied by a relatively affordable price tag of $179.95. Some of the optional accessories available to enhance your video recording experience include 2GB and 4GB memory cards, Kodak tripods and Kodak camera bags for easy traveling.

Eee PC shipments "fail expectations" for first half of 08
Filed under: Laptops
Welcome back to reality ASUS. The Taiwanese giant just announced that it shipped 1.7 million Eee PCs in the “first half of 2008,” 300,000 less than had been forecasted. Of course, this could be explained in any number of ways including a downturn in the global economy and those consumers who skipped past the Eee PC 900 in favor of the Atom-based Eee PC 901. With Atom processors in short supply and ASUS diluting the Eee brand as much as they have, well, we wouldn’t be surprised to see these failed expectations become the expectation moving forward; especially for companies like Acer who seem to be betting the farm on these new netbook-class mini-laptops.

Velocity Micro Vector Campus Edition
As much as we like the look and feel of Velocity Micro’s Vector Campus Edition desktop, we can’t recommend it. It suffers from poor bang-for-the-buck, a lack of configurable options, and a narrow upgrade path.
Toshiba USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive
The Toshiba USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive is an attractive, lightweight drive with a decent price point for a drive of this capacity. Its size makes it great for travel, but the write speeds aren’t up to par with other drives we’ve seen. We can’t recommend it due to its lack of performance.
Mio Knight Rider GPS navigation system gets official
Have you picked up a GPS navigation system for yourself yet? If you have not yet done so, make sure you shortlist the Knight Rider GPS navigation system from Mio. Yes, it has finally gone official. Inspired by the original Knight Industries Two Thousand (a.k.a. K.I.T.T.), you get to impress your lady friends and blokes (I suspect the latter group would be more excited at the sight) with some magic from the original TV series as you make your way across town to your destination within the shortest, most efficient route possible. Just in case you’re wondering what the level of authenticity is like, you’ll be pleased to know that the Knight Rider GPS comes with a Knight Industries-approved LED display and custom voice files for that added touch of realism.
The device’s integrated randomized greetings and 300 custom names will welcome you to your navigation experience. In addition to Mio’s hallmark high-quality navigation, the Knight Rider GPS features an active LED voice synthesizer display that moves in sync with the voice, just as it did on K.I.T.T.’s dash. The Knight Rider GPS can even be programmed to advise drivers of speed limit infractions for those inclined to apply too much turbo boost. The Knight Rider GPS features a 4.3-inch widescreen interface, which allows for more on-screen information and additional details about upcoming intersections. More than four million points of interest will assist drivers in locating gas stations, emergency assistance, hotels and restaurants — turning every trip on the road into an adventure. Like the original K.I.T.T., which had multiple modes including normal, auto and pursuit cruising, the Knight Rider GPS allows drivers to choose routing modes including the fastest or shortest route and highway preference. In a race against mobile assassins or your child’s soccer schedule, the Knight Rider GPS also features a SiRFInstantFixIII GPS receiver, which delivers faster GPS signal locks so drivers can navigate as soon as they are ready to drive.
You can pick up this surefire winner for $269.95.
